Our story

Drake and Jose’s journey began at Columbia Heights Schools, where they first met in middle school. What started as a friendship quickly evolved into a shared vision, and it was there that the idea for RAPID was born.

With a long-term vision in mind, they began laying the foundation for a program designed to grow alongside the youth and families it serves.

RAPID is a program that families can trust — focused on developing youth not only as athletes, but also by building life skills, character, and leadership that prepare them to succeed on and off the court.

COACHING STAFF

Drake PHam

Coach Drake graduated from the University of Minnesota in May 2025 with a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management and a minor in Leadership. He currently works full-time at the City of Brooklyn Center as a Recreation Coordinator while pursuing his Master's of Business Administration with an emphasis in sports.

Jose Lopez REyes

Coach Jose is currently working full-time at Dean's Home Services as a Plumbing Apprentice. He graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 2023 and has kickstarted his career in the trades with his present role. He also coaches Columbia Heights Recreation traveling basketball for the 5th grade boys team.
